You are trapped. Stuck with your cheating husband who could care less about you. Suddenly though he falls ill with a horrible eye disease. This forces you to move away to a different country. There you meet a sweet man who quickly falls in love with you. Gradually you start to love him. A few days later though you are forced to move back to your home with your husband. After a few weeks there you fall into a deep depression and long for your actual lover. Then hope comes when the one you love writes you saying he is coming to her town to ask her an important question. When he comes he asks you if you want to come back to his town to live in you say yes and leave your husband. This is the life of Anna in the story “The Lady With the pet dog”. Anna is one of the key characters in this story along with one other, also there are many symbols in this story including her lover.
There are two main characters in this story. The first and the most important is Anna. She is a young, sweet, and wealthy woman. Next is her lover Grouv. He is a kind loving, rich man who is in his thirties. And the last one is Anna’s little pet dog who she cares deeply about. Lastly is her cheating idiot of a husband who she only married because her mother wanted her to.
Just like her husband was a cheating freak he is also a symbol of betrayal and disgrace. Next is her white dog, a symbol of loyalty and friendship. Grouv is a symbol of love trust as well as strength and care. The town that Grouv lives in is called Lalta this word in Russian means hope and that is exactly what this town gave Anna so the town is a symbol of hope.
Overall “The Lady With the Pet Dog" was very descriptive. Especially with the characters, each one has way different personalities and thoughts. Next is the great symbols that flood the pages with meaning. And in the end Anna does end up very happy with her new life with Grouv.

Horse Show
Adrenaline is racing. My heart thumping. Mind racing. Breath quicken and I draw. It was late August and it was the day of one of my horse shows. This was my first one where we had to draw the name of our horses that we were going to ride on poker chips out of a helmet. Most were good but there were a few I did not want. Also there was one that I was hoping for. After we chose we led them into the ring and mounted then started our routine. Then there was the award ceremony. And finally my least favorite part after the show with parents and friends taking pictures.
The horses used that day were all widespread with their temperaments, sizes, and speeds. The one that was considered the best was Murphy a roan paint with a fiery temperament. Then there was Jimmy, one horse that was beautiful, he had a dappled coat and was a rapid runner. Then there was his brother Gino, he was a dark bay with bumpy gaits. Wally was not a horse he is a mule but was used any way. Next was a horse I did not want Hank, he looked like Gino but was a cranky old horse who hated people. Also Hulk, a fat halflinger pony with a flaxen coat I did not want him because you had to whip him to get him to do anything. And finally Oreo, my favorite horse in the world. He loves me and follows me in the pasture.
When we were about to start drawing the horses the announcer called my class to the paddock to pick. I was hoping for Oreo but guess who I drew? Hank! I though how could I get Hank. Of all the horses I get him? Why? Why? Why? But then I saw a girl who was also disappointed with her horse. I walked over to her and asked who she picked. All she said was Oreo and was on the brink of crying. I asked her what horse she wanted and she said Hank in a low scratchy voice. Just then I whispered “I have Hank, If you let me use Oreo then you can use Hank.” Her brown eyes lit up like spotlights and she shoved the Oreo chip into my hands and yanked the Hank one out. Both of us were overjoyed and just wanted to scream in happiness.
Next on the schedule was the mounting of our horses. When Oreo saw me strolling toward him he let out a shrill whinny and I greeted him by scratching his little black ears. As the other riders started to mount Oreo started to nuzzle me a sign of pure horse happiness. When the mounting block was brought over to me I stepped on slowly so I would not scare Oreo. As I drifted into the saddle Oreo craned his neck showing he was ready. Everyone in the audience noticed that this horse really liked me. The announcer started to shout commands like “riders trot your horses” and “ riders canter your horses” Oreo heard these commands and did everything perfectly.
After we finished the whole show part the awards were handed out starting with sixth place, this one went to Hank and his rider. Then fifth came up and was given to Gino and his rider. Fourth went to Wally and his young rider. Third went to Jimmy and his rider. Second went to Murphy and his rider. And first went to me and Oreo. As soon as Oreo saw the ribbon he whinnied and nuzzled my shoulder. Then the ribbon was put on Oreo’s bridle next to his ear.
Soon after the ceremony there was the worst part, parents and friends rushing up to me and taking pictures of Oreo and I. I forgot to tell you that Oreo is camera shy because he has one blind eye and he freaks out as soon as he sees just one flash. As my sister went to take a picture I talked to Oreo and kept him calm through the whole thing. After my parents went back to the stands I led Oreo into his stall and untacked him. About one minute later the girl who rode Hank walked in and thanked me for letting her ride him.
I will have to wait six m ore months today until I get to see my friend Oreo again and I am trying to get my parents to buy him but all they say is we will think about it which usually translates to no. Out of all the horses there I got the one I wanted. And the drawing was lucky because if it had not been for that little girl I wouldn’t have been able to ride Oreo. Oreo was very glad that I was the one mounting him for this show and showed his pleasure by displaying to the audience how much he loved me. During the show its self was the second best part of the whole thing. Winning was amazing and with Oreo by my side we both knew that we deserved very much to win. And finally my parents cameras flashing and trying to keep Oreo calm was the worst part of all.

Two pipnched nerves.
Pinching a nerve is bad enough but one in your neck is awfull. So guess what, I pinched two in my neck this morning. Now I can not do anything without pain, even turning my head the slightest bit. I hate it so much. I am going to a doctor later today to get it looked at better but I am just in so much pain. Worst of all today is a B-day so I have Gym and I have no idea how I will be able to do anything. I am not only upset but I am basicly imobilized in my neck because I can't move it without pain.
The worst week of all time
This week has been awful so far. First my great uncle died. Then the funeral was outside and it was like 10 degrees out. Next our plane got delaid for 2 hours. And finally today I pinched two nerves in my neck! Now I can not do anything without severe pain and agony. For the most part this morning my sister had to help me with a bunch of stuff that should have been easy on any normal day.

The Rocking Horse Winner
Imagine being on top of the world. Making easy money every day. But you are heading toward a certain madness on your rocking horse to find a winner of horse races. For the big race, the Derby is coming up and you viciously race on your little rocking horse and you know the winner. Then, you fall ill. Start going into horrible and violent fits and losing consciousness quite frequently and you can just scream, "Malabar! Malabar! Basset bet on Malabar!" You are right but before you can have fun with your new found wealth you die in your sleep. This is the story of Paul. He was talented at picking the winners of the horse races by swinging on his beloved rocking horse. This story has a clear mode of a tragedy, plus the many symbols are obvious like the rocking horse.
The mode of this short story is quite clear an irony. I know this because it follows all of the traits. For one it is not realistic at all I mean seriously no one can determine which horse can win a race by swinging on a rocking horse like a madman. Also the world is in chaos for the main character; you see his family was always short on “luck”. Next a conflict arises and that is the obsession of his rocking horse showing him his answer. Later the main character struggles for sanity when his mother finds him flinging himself back and forth on his rocking horse. Then it ends as Paul dies purely from his obsession that caused a severe mental illness.
Just like how the horse caused obsession it is a symbol of dependency. Also Basset the gardener for the family is a symbol of companionship and loyalty. Next is Paul’s uncle Oscar. Oscar is more of a “lucky” person than Paul and plays the betting game for fun; he is a symbol of risks and power to Paul. And finally the horse races, these represent hope for a better life for Paul and his family.
Overall I really enjoyed this story for many reasons. For one its clear mode, it was pretty much spelled out for me. Next are the lush symbols that demonstrate how Paul’s hopes led to his unfortunate death. So I may never know how he died, I do know that in the end he died “lucky.”
