You are trapped. Stuck with your cheating husband who could care less about you. Suddenly though he falls ill with a horrible eye disease. This forces you to move away to a different country. There you meet a sweet man who quickly falls in love with you. Gradually you start to love him. A few days later though you are forced to move back to your home with your husband. After a few weeks there you fall into a deep depression and long for your actual lover. Then hope comes when the one you love writes you saying he is coming to her town to ask her an important question. When he comes he asks you if you want to come back to his town to live in you say yes and leave your husband. This is the life of Anna in the story “The Lady With the pet dog”. Anna is one of the key characters in this story along with one other, also there are many symbols in this story including her lover.
There are two main characters in this story. The first and the most important is Anna. She is a young, sweet, and wealthy woman. Next is her lover Grouv. He is a kind loving, rich man who is in his thirties. And the last one is Anna’s little pet dog who she cares deeply about. Lastly is her cheating idiot of a husband who she only married because her mother wanted her to.
Just like her husband was a cheating freak he is also a symbol of betrayal and disgrace. Next is her white dog, a symbol of loyalty and friendship. Grouv is a symbol of love trust as well as strength and care. The town that Grouv lives in is called Lalta this word in Russian means hope and that is exactly what this town gave Anna so the town is a symbol of hope.
Overall “The Lady With the Pet Dog" was very descriptive. Especially with the characters, each one has way different personalities and thoughts. Next is the great symbols that flood the pages with meaning. And in the end Anna does end up very happy with her new life with Grouv.
